Golf Cart on the golf course

Golfing using a golf cart

You're seeing more golf carts up for sale these days because they
are not just for making a round of golf easier on the legs any more.
They are now a very popular alternative means of transportation employed in all types of settings.  Airports, stadiums and sporting venues, convention centers, factories and manufacturing facilities
all use them.  And their use for personal purposes in planned,
gated, or self-enclosed communities grows every year.  Street-
legal options increase their usability for many owners.

When shopping for golf carts, choosing to peruse lists of used golf carts is probably not a bad way to start.  As you'd expect, used models sell for significantly less than those fresh off the showroom floor. Yet, prepared shoppers are finding good used golf cars that will offer years of reliable duty and service, creating a value purchase compare to going the brand new route.  All the leading manufacturers are represented, including Yamaha, Club Car, E-Z-Go, and more.

The golf carts that you’ll see for sale will be either gasoline powered units or electric vehicles.  The gas powered carts feature great responsiveness and acceleration when your foot depresses the pedal.  Plenty of horsepower, meaning up to about 10 hp, gives you the juice you need to handle the hills, or the ups and downs of off-road use.  Fuel tanks ranging in size from 5.5 to 7 gallons make for infrequent refueling with the good gas economy found in most models.

The electric golf carts that you'll see on the market, typically feature 48-volt engines, and a variety of battery configurations, including four 12-volt batteries, six 8-volt units, or eight 6-volt models. Zero maintenance batteries are available, as are units that require simple maintenance including adding water periodically.  Look for batteries with the right terminal configuration to make the connections as easy as possible.

Batteries are a significant investment, but will produce good savings over time, and with the fluctuating cost of gasoline, represent a quality choice for many consumers.  Recharging the battery is fairly quick and very easy from any outlet and power cord.  Today’s long-life batteries should last up to five years, or more, and deliver reliable, renewable power.

Custom golf carts are available today that sport bodies based on popular classic and new vehicles, as well as fantastic paint jobs.  You will see golf carts for sale with varying amounts of customization, ranging from horns and mirrors to grills and wheel rims.  If you use a golf cart as an alternative means of transportation, the opportunities to trick out its look and performance are almost unlimited.

An increasing number of golf cart purchases are made by consumers looking for alternative transportation that is easier on the environment and the wallet.  Many models made today are street legal, and provide the perfect choice for enclosed communities, or where roads with lower speed limits pave the way to relaxed shopping, dining, entertainment, service, or medical locations.
